Trump’s public statements about business dealings in Russia have evolved over time. Cohen said he lied to Congress to minimize links between Trump and the project and give the false impression that the proposal had ended before key early milestones in the 2016 race to determine the Republican presidential nominee.Ĭohen in his guilty plea said the project was discussed within the Trump Organization multiple times and that he spoke with Sater about obtaining Russian governmental approval as late as June 2016, after Trump had clinched the Republican nomination. In his guilty plea, Cohen admitted he had lied to Congress in a 2017 letter that claimed he had only discussed the negotiations with Trump three times and that the project talks ended in January 2016. He also lied about it because he stood to make hundreds of millions of dollars on the Moscow real estate project,” Cohen testified. He lied about it because he never expected to win the election. Trump knew of and directed the Trump Moscow negotiations throughout the campaign and lied about it. In testimony last month to the House of Representatives Oversight and Reform Committee, Cohen said Sater came up with a “marketing stunt” of offering Putin a free penthouse in the tower to drive up unit prices, “no different than in any condo where they start listing celebrities that live in the property.”Ĭohen’s House testimony portrayed Trump as keenly interested in completing the deal even as he campaigned for president. Trump had announced his presidential candidacy in June 2015. I will get all of Putin’s team to buy in on this,” Sater told Cohen in that email. Buddy our boy can become President of the USA and we can engineer it. “I know how to play it and we will get this done. Sater, who has served prison time in the United States for assault and later became an FBI informant on organized crime, assured Cohen in a November 2015 email he could get the Russian government to support a Trump property in Moscow. The letter of intent described a building in a Moscow business district with 250 luxury residential condominiums, at least 150 hotel rooms and a luxury spa. Expert Investment Co, agreed to construct the skyscraper, and the Trump Organization agreed to license its name and manage the building’s operations. Further information has come from Michael Cohen, Trump’s former personal lawyer who was instrumental in the negotiations, in congressional testimony and in his guilty plea to a charge of lying to Congress about the project. The special counsel has revealed in court filings numerous details about the project, which never came to fruition.

The visuals look great on PlayStation 5, despite some of the darkly lit areas, yet environments like the arcade are brimming with vibrancy and offer a nice alternative to the gloom and eerie hallways of the school. ![]() You’re never stuck, and that simplicity makes for a nice flow to gameplay. ![]() Gylt has the occasional puzzle involving familiar tropes of the genre, such as finding certain keys or turning valves and moving climbable platforms, but they work well with the confines of the environment. These encounters aren’t particularly scary, and dealing with enemies can feel repetitive, but it doesn’t carry the same level of monotony other horrors have a tendency to exhibit. You have a flashlight that can highlight a way through in the darkness, but it will also fend of monsters in a similar way to Alan Wake. They walk the same paths, so it’s easier to work out when they’ll start circling back towards you, giving you plenty of options to sneak past them and get to the next area of safety. It simply provides a better cushion of protection. In an effort to avoid being spotted, you must sneak around the shadows, hiding behind bushes, crates, or whatever you find.Įach enemy has a field of vision, although you’re never quite sure what this is as darkness doesn’t always mean your invisible to them. The creepy monsters aren’t cutting you to shreds or impaling you with razor-sharp tendrils, but rather hunting you down and forcing you to start over from the last checkpoint, minus the grisly end. Gylt isn’t trying to be a brash and offensive bloodbath awash with mutilated bodies and shrieking banshees. It’s spooky but not outright terrifying, and that’s fine. In the fictional town of Bethelwood in Maine, USA, Sally finds the town isn’t what it normally is, embodying the Silent Hill switcharoo, where weird creatures lurk in the shadows, streets now void of life. Gylt starts off with a girl finding an alternative route home because she’s afraid of the bullies who are heckling and taunting her, setting the tone for what’s to come. Maybe we can blame the bully’s upbringing or the things going wrong in their own lives, but when those being affected are feeling crippled by that oppressive hold it has on them, crying in toilet cubicles afraid to leave, or refusing to get out of bed in the morning, it’s upsetting to see. It can destroy confidence and a will to live, ruining lives and impacting childhoods well into becoming adults. By framing the tension and aesthetics this way allows the audience to understand a more realistic horror many have been privy to in their lifetime.īullying is something we’ve either witnessed happening to those we know or to us ourselves. It feels more Coraline than Resident Evil – more Corpse Bride than Outlast. Few titles strip back these elements in favour of an approach to a younger audience, and while Gylt is in no way only for teenagers or children, I would have no qualms about letting my daughters play it. Horror is a genre that tends to go for severe jump scares, buckets of blood and gore, and fiendishly detailed monsters that have a tendency to flip your stomach over when you set your eyes on them. ![]() Fully set up game starts at 7.5 x 7.5 inches and is 2.5 feet tall Game can grow to over 5 feet while playing based on skill level. While Alison agrees with Caro’s findings, she thinks biting flies “seems too unimportant an effect” to have driven the evolution of zebra stripes. They believe that zebra stripes aid primarily in thermoregulation. However, other zebra researchers, like retired animal lab technician Alison Cobb and zoologist Stephen Cobb of Oxford in the UK, aren’t convinced by the parasite-deterring explanation. And in Princeton University, evolutionary biologist Daniel Rubenstein and his collaborators are tackling the question using “fly vision in virtual reality”. “It looks as if they cannot recognise that black and white surface as a good landing spot,” says Caro.Ĭaro says his team is working with “lots of unpublished data” from videos of flies approaching different patterns to learn how the stripes mess up a fly’s landing. The flies would try to land on the stripes, but then fail to decelerate as they normally would approaching a non-striped surface, and bounce off. The horseflies hovered around zebras and horses in similar amounts, but far fewer flies landed on zebras – or horses with striped coats. ![]() ![]() They observed horseflies around zebras and horses some horses had black, white or striped coats placed on them. The research at Hill Livery earlier this year, shed new light for Caro’s team. “We also found absolutely no support for the other hypotheses.” “ really showed something really remarkable to us,” says Caro. While scientists still debate the exact origins and functions of zebra stripes, their recent efforts have focused more closely on three possibilities protection from biting flies, thermoregulation and protection from predators. These striping differences, coupled with the challenges that zebras face in their environment, have guided our understanding of how the stripes might work. Striping patterns and intensity vary across species as well as location. The three living species of zebras that roam eastern and southern Africa with their coat of dark hair broken by stripes of white, unpigmented hair, are the only striped equids. Zebras, together with horses and asses, are members of the Equus genus. But, for a long time new theories were introduced without rigorous tests. Scientists have put forward at least 18 reasons why, from camouflage or warning colours, to more creative explanations like unique markers that help to identify individuals like a human fingerprint. ![]() How and why zebras evolved to sport black and white stripes are questions that have tested scientists for over a century. “People have been talking about zebra stripes for over a hundred years, but it's just a matter of really doing experiments and thinking clearly about the issue to understand it better,” he says. For Tim Caro, an ecologist from the University of St Andrews who has been studying zebra stripes for almost two decades, the livery yard’s relatively tame zebras provided a rare opportunity to stand within metres of them and observe them. ![]() And then do the same to everyone else by CMS on 8/8/23Īdele was incredible as expected!
